Parish Life Coordinators:

Profile of an Emerging Ministry

With the growing priest shortage in the United States, a significant number of parishes have no priest and are lacking adequate pastoral care and sacramental service. Over time, some of these parishes have even found it necessary to shut their doors. What can be done to stem the closing of Catholic churches and bring new life and purpose to parishes struggling when there is no priest?

The answer is parish life coordinators. Drawing on information gathered from focus groups of bishops and surveys of all identified PLCs in the U.S., Parish Life Coordinators explains how the PLC model works, shares best practices from parishes using this model, and offers practical implementation ideas that will help parishes with no priest successfully serve the ever-increasing pastoral needs of their people.
