David Ramey

Consultant

David Ramey has been President of Strategic Leadership Associates, Inc., since 1987. He formerly served as President of Bergamo Center for Lifelong Learning, a national conference and training center in Dayton, Ohio. Dave has completed the book Empowering Leaders published by Sheed and Ward, now in its second printing. His Strategic Leadership Assessment & Profile is now available.

Dave has served as a strategic planning and organizational development consultant to business, government, human services, foundations, national organizations, conference centers, and universities throughout the United States. In 2001, he received NASA’s Public Service Medal, the highest civilian award of the Agency. His NASA clients have included the Marshall Space Flight Center, Langley Research Center, and the National Space Science and Technology Center.

Dave received a B.A. Degree from Marquette University and a Master’s Degree in Education from Loyola University of Chicago. He also holds a Certificate in Training and Consulting from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Dave frequently offers regional and national workshops on leadership development and strategic planning.

Pastoral leaders in the North Central region describe parishes of the future as having changing parish structures and roles, along with more involvement in leadership of the laity. Participants feel there will be a greater awareness and emphasis on social justice and Catholic social teachings, as well as an increased role of service as part of the parish identity.

Participants from the southern tier indicated that in the future there would be more diverse parish structures with sensitivity to cultural diversity. When asked to describe what inclusive pastoral behaviors included they most frequently mentioned multi-cultural awareness and inclusivity, the importance of teaching by example, and creating welcoming, inclusive, and inviting communities. When expressing their views on the needed welcoming behaviors of leadership, participants overwhelmingly defined these as personal efforts to create a genuinely open and welcoming environment with cultural sensitivity.
